The Cult of Scientology
Scientology is a cult based upon a sad system of "Pseudo-science". It cannot legitimately be called a bonafide religion. It was founded by L. Ron Hubbard in California in 1954. Hubbard did what he termed as "Research" into the mind and the mechanics of life which culminated in 1950 with his publication of the book, "Dianetics: The Modern Science of Mental Health". This book purported to present a revolutionary view of the human mind and ability and the key to unlocking their secrets.
The group which is headquartered in Los Angeles, California claims millions of members worldwide, but it is believed that actual membership is certainly under a million with a more likely figure being about a hundred thousand. Scientology has repeatedly released contradictory numbers regarding their membership. This seems to indicate their inability to count correctly; or, alternatively, to mislead with any degree of consistency.
The basics of Scientology teach that we are each "Thetans" which are immortal spiritual beings with unlimited powers over our own universe. Teachings include "Dianetics" which is the discharging of mental recordings of painful incidents (engrams) to relieve one of stress. Believers are taught that they must work with and an "Auditor" (a listener) who runs Scientology processes and listens to the person's answers. This auditor helps the believer work out his "engrams" to achieve a state of "clear" (being cleared of stress and hang-ups). Scientology teaches that those who work their way clear of "engrams" become "Operating Thetans". Operating Thetans are those capable of operating without a body. The final pinnacle for Scientologists is the "Bridge to total freedom". Sadly, it is only a bridge leading to the Abyss of Hell.
HERETICAL TEACHINGS OF SCIENTOLOGY
1. Scientology rejects the biblical description of God, and followers believe everyone is a "Thetan", an immortal spiritual being with unlimited power to control their own universe and fate.
Psalms 2:1-5 - "Why do the heathen rage, and the people imagine a vain thing? The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the LORD, and against his anointed, saying, Let us break their bands asunder, and cast away their cords from us. He that sitteth in the heavens shall laugh: the Lord shall have them in derision. Then shall he speak unto them in his wrath, and vex them in his sore displeasure."
Isaiah 55:8-9 - "For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts."
Proverbs 5:21 - "For the ways of man are before the eyes of the LORD, and he pondereth all his goings."
John 1:1 - "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 The same was in the beginning with God. 3 All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made. 4 In him was life; and the life was the light of men. 5 And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not."

Colossians 1:15 - "Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature: 16 For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him:17 And he is before all things, and by him all things consist. 18 And he is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all things he might have the preeminence. 19 For it pleased the Father that in him should all fulness dwell; 20 And, having made peace through the blood of his cross, by him to reconcile all things unto himself; by him, I say, whether they be things in earth, or things in heaven."
1 Timothy 3:16 - "And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory."
2. Scientology denies that Jesus is the creator.
Genesis 1:1 - "In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth."
Genesis 1:27 - "So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them."
Genesis 2:4 - "These are the generations of the heavens and of the earth when they were created, in the day that the LORD God made the earth and the heavens,"
Genesis 5:1 - "This is the book of the generations of Adam. In the day that God created man, in the likeness of God made he him;"
Deuteronomy 4:32 - "For ask now of the days that are past, which were before thee, since the day that God created man upon the earth, and ask from the one side of heaven unto the other, whether there hath been any such thing as this great thing is, or hath been heard like it?"
Isaiah 42:5 - "Thus saith God the LORD, he that created the heavens, and stretched them out; he that spread forth the earth, and that which cometh out of it; he that giveth breath unto the people upon it, and spirit to them that walk therein:"
Isaiah 45:18 - "For thus saith the LORD that created the heavens; God himself that formed the earth and made it; he hath established it, he created it not in vain, he formed it to be inhabited: I am the LORD; and there is none else."
Malachi 2:10 - "Have we not all one father? hath not one God created us? why do we deal treacherously every man against his brother, by profaning the covenant of our fathers?"
Ephesians 2:10 - "For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them."
Ephesians 3:9 - "And to make all men see what is the fellowship of the mystery, which from the beginning of the world hath been hid in God, who created all things by Jesus Christ:"
Ephesians 4:24 - "And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness."
3. Scientology denies that Jesus died for our sins.
Revelation 1:5 - "And from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, and the first begotten of the dead, and the prince of the kings of the earth. Unto him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood,"
Revelation 12:11 - "And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death."
Hebrews 9:12, 28 - "Neither by the blood of goats and calves, but by his own blood he entered in once into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption for us, ...So Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many; and unto them that look for him shall he appear the second time without sin unto salvation."
4. Scientology rejects the existence of sin.
Romans 3:23 - "For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; 24 Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus: 25 Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God;"
Romans 6:23 - "For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord."
1 Corinthains 15:1 - "Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; 2 By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. 3 For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; 4 And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:"
1 John 1:8 - "If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.
9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.10 If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us."
5. Scientology rejects the necessity and principle of repentance.
Romans 10:9 - "That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. 10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation."
Revelation 3:3 - "Remember therefore how thou hast received and heard, and hold fast, and repent. If therefore thou shalt not watch, I will come on thee as a thief, and thou shalt not know what hour I will come upon thee."
Revelation 2:22 - "Behold, I will cast her into a bed, and them that commit adultery with her into great tribulation, except they repent of their deeds."
Revelation 2:16 - "Repent; or else I will come unto thee quickly, and will fight against them with the sword of my mouth."
Revelation 2:5 - "Remember therefore from whence thou art fallen, and repent, and do the first works; or else I will come unto thee quickly, and will remove thy candlestick out of his place, except thou repent."
Acts 26:20 - "But shewed first unto them of Damascus, and at Jerusalem, and throughout all the coasts of Judaea, and then to the Gentiles, that they should repent and turn to God, and do works meet for repentance."
Acts 17:30 - "And the times of this ignorance God winked at; but now commandeth all men every where to repent:"
Acts 8:22 - "Repent therefore of this thy wickedness, and pray God, if perhaps the thought of thine heart may be forgiven thee."
Acts 3:19 - "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord;"
Acts 2:38 - "Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost."
Luke 13:3,5 - "I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish."
Mark 6:12 - "And they went out, and preached that men should repent."
Matthew 4:17 - "From that time Jesus began to preach, and to say, Repent: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand."
Mark 1:15 - "And saying, The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye, and believe the gospel."
Ezekiel 18:30 - "Therefore I will judge you, O house of Israel, every one according to his ways, saith the Lord GOD. Repent, and turn yourselves from all your transgressions; so iniquity shall not be your ruin."
Ezekiel 14:6 - "Therefore say unto the house of Israel, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Repent, and turn yourselves from your idols; and turn away your faces from all your abominations."
Job 42:6 - "Wherefore I abhor myself, and repent in dust and ashes."
1 Kings 8:47 - "Yet if they shall bethink themselves in the land whither they were carried captives, and repent, and make supplication unto thee in the land of them that carried them captives, saying, We have sinned, and have done perversely, we have committed wickedness;"
6. States that the concept of Hell is a myth.
Deuteronomy 32:22 - "For a fire is kindled in mine anger, and shall burn unto the lowest hell, and shall consume the earth with her increase, and set on fire the foundations of the mountains."
2 Samuel 22:6 - "The sorrows of hell compassed me about; the snares of death prevented me;"
Job 11:8 - "It is as high as heaven; what canst thou do? deeper than hell; what canst thou know?"
Job 26:6 - "Hell is naked before him, and destruction hath no covering."
Psalms 9:17 - "The wicked shall be turned into hell, and all the nations that forget God."
Psalms 16:10 - "For thou wilt not leave my soul in hell; neither wilt thou suffer thine Holy One to see corruption."
Psalms 18:5 - "The sorrows of hell compassed me about: the snares of death prevented me."
Psalms 55:15 - "Let death seize upon them, and let them go down quick into hell: for wickedness is in their dwellings, and among them."
Psalms 86:13 - "For great is thy mercy toward me: and thou hast delivered my soul from the lowest hell."
Psalms 116:3 - "The sorrows of death compassed me, and the pains of hell gat hold upon me: I found trouble and sorrow."
Psalms 139:8 - "If I ascend up into heaven, thou art there: if I make my bed in hell, behold, thou art there."
Proverbs 5:5 - "Her feet go down to death; her steps take hold on hell."
Proverbs 7:27 - "Her house is the way to hell, going down to the chambers of death."
Proverbs 9:18 - "But he knoweth not that the dead are there; and that her guests are in the depths of hell."
Proverbs 15:11 - "Hell and destruction are before the LORD: how much more then the hearts of the children of men?"
Proverbs 15:24 - "The way of life is above to the wise, that he may depart from hell beneath."
Proverbs 23:14 - "Thou shalt beat him with the rod, and shalt deliver his soul from hell."
Proverbs 27:20 - "Hell and destruction are never full; so the eyes of man are never satisfied."
Isaiah 5:14 - "Therefore hell hath enlarged herself, and opened her mouth without measure: and their glory, and their multitude, and their pomp, and he that rejoiceth, shall descend into it."
Isaiah 14:9 - "Hell from beneath is moved for thee to meet thee at thy coming: it stirreth up the dead for thee, even all the chief ones of the earth; it hath raised up from their thrones all the kings of the nations."
Isaiah 14:15 - "Yet thou shalt be brought down to hell, to the sides of the pit."
Isaiah 28:15 - "Because ye have said, We have made a covenant with death, and with hell are we at agreement; when the overflowing scourge shall pass through, it shall not come unto us: for we have made lies our refuge, and under falsehood have we hid ourselves:"
Isaiah 28:18 - "And your covenant with death shall be disannulled, and your agreement with hell shall not stand; when the overflowing scourge shall pass through, then ye shall be trodden down by it."
Isaiah 57:9 - "And thou wentest to the king with ointment, and didst increase thy perfumes, and didst send thy messengers far off, and didst debase thyself even unto hell."
Ezekiel 31:16 - "I made the nations to shake at the sound of his fall, when I cast him down to hell with them that descend into the pit: and all the trees of Eden, the choice and best of Lebanon, all that drink water, shall be comforted in the nether parts of the earth."
Ezekiel 31:17 - "They also went down into hell with him unto them that be slain with the sword; and they that were his arm, that dwelt under his shadow in the midst of the heathen."
Ezekiel 32:21 - "The strong among the mighty shall speak to him out of the midst of hell with them that help him: they are gone down, they lie uncircumcised, slain by the sword."
Ezekiel 32:27 - "And they shall not lie with the mighty that are fallen of the uncircumcised, which are gone down to hell with their weapons of war: and they have laid their swords under their heads, but their iniquities shall be upon their bones, though they were the terror of the mighty in the land of the living."
Amos 9:2 - "Though they dig into hell, thence shall mine hand take them; though they climb up to heaven, thence will I bring them down:"
Matthew 5:22 - "But I say unto you, That whosoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of the judgment: and whosoever shall say to his brother, Raca, shall be in danger of the council: but whosoever shall say, Thou fool, shall be in danger of hell fire."
Matthew 16:18 - "And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it."
Matthew 18:9 - "And if thine eye offend thee, pluck it out, and cast it from thee: it is better for thee to enter into life with one eye, rather than having two eyes to be cast into hell fire."
Matthew 23:15 - "Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye compass sea and land to make one proselyte, and when he is made, ye make him twofold more the child of hell than yourselves."
Matthew 23:33 - "Ye serpents, ye generation of vipers, how can ye escape the damnation of hell?"
Mark 9:43 - "And if thy hand offend thee, cut it off: it is better for thee to enter into life maimed, than having two hands to go into hell, into the fire that never shall be quenched:"
Mark 9:45 - "And if thy foot offend thee, cut it off: it is better for thee to enter halt into life, than having two feet to be cast into hell, into the fire that never shall be quenched:"
Mark 9:47 - "And if thine eye offend thee, pluck it out: it is better for thee to enter into the kingdom of God with one eye, than having two eyes to be cast into hell fire:"
Luke 10:15 - "And thou, Capernaum, which art exalted to heaven, shalt be thrust down to hell."
Luke 12:5 - "But I will forewarn you whom ye shall fear: Fear him, which after he hath killed hath power to cast into hell; yea, I say unto you, Fear him."
Luke 16:23 - "And in hell he lift up his eyes, being in torments, and seeth Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom."
Acts 2:27 - "Because thou wilt not leave my soul in hell, neither wilt thou suffer thine Holy One to see corruption."
Acts 2:31 - "He seeing this before spake of the resurrection of Christ, that his soul was not left in hell, neither his flesh did see corruption."
James 3:6 - "And the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity: so is the tongue among our members, that it defileth the whole body, and setteth on fire the course of nature; and it is set on fire of hell."
Revelation 1:18 - "I am he that liveth, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen; and have the keys of hell and of death."
Revelation 6:8 - "And I looked, and behold a pale horse: and his name that sat on him was Death, and Hell followed with him. And power was given unto them over the fourth part of the earth, to kill with sword, and with hunger, and with death, and with the beasts of the earth."
Revelation 20:13 - "And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works."
Revelation 20:14 - "And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death."
Scientology is a corrupt system that will ultimately send many to Hell unless they repent and turn to the one True God. After carefully examining the writings of Hubbard and material sent us by Scientology we have found one statement with which we at least partially agree. Scientology's founder himself, L. Ron Hubbard, once stated:
"We are only concerned with how to show man how he can set himself free." - L. Ron Hubbard
AMEN - We too are only concerned with how to show man how he can attain freedom - and man can do this ONLY by accepting Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. Man is powerless to free himself by his own power. It is only through the saving grace of Jesus that man can be freed from the bondage of sin and it's penalty.
Acts 16:30-31 - "And brought them out, and said, Sirs, what must I do to be saved? And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house."
Romans 8:2 - "For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death."
Romans 6:18 - "Being then made free from sin, ye became the servants of righteousness."
Isaiah 61:1 - "The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon me; because the LORD hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek; he hath sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound;"
Galatians 5:1 - "Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage."
