IT'S NOT ABOUT ME

Today, just like everyday should, it all starts with God. It's not about me. In spite of all the advertising around me, how can I remind myself that life is really about living for God, not myself? "For by HIM were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by HIM, and for HIM:" Colossians 1:16. I am reminded that serving God should be an honor for me. Our purpose in life is to serve HIM with all that we have and all that we do. If we don't honor HIM in what we do, we bring reproach on HIS name.

I think that Solomon probably said it best, in Ecclesiastes 12:13, when he said, "Let us hear the conclusion of th ewhole matter: Fear God, and keep HIS commandments: for this is the whole duty of man." Man has tons of duties when it comes to serving God. We remember when the LORD told Solomon that the way for him to continue his kingdomship, in his family, that he had to obey the LORD'S statutes and commandments. Of course Solomon, being the wisest man in the Bible, did not use his gift of wisdom wisely. Results, he allowed his wives and concubines to bring idols into his family and therefore lost the kingdomship.

We all have idols, to some extent, in our lives today. When we allow our fleshly desires, or our wants toos, to take over our lives and to get in the way of serving God, then we too, have sinned against God. We should want our lives to honor and glorify God in everything we do. I know that I have these same problems and I attibute them to the fact that without God, I am nothing. The old addage, "He's a good man or good person," is great, but the truth is, "There in none good, no not one." Romans 3:10. So, if we truly want to allow God to be the first in our lives, and to be the leader of our lives we must first do what HE told us to do in Matthew 6:33. "But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and HIS righteousness:" It's not about me or you, it is all about HIM. If we make HIM first in our lives, then HE will shine through us and the testimony we give toward this world with honor and glorify HIM. Because, it truly is all about HIM and not about us. Thank God for the free gift of salvation and for the honor he gives us to serve HIM freely.
